Things to know before your first class:
Group Class Levels:
- Bachata Foundations & Beginner are where you begin your bachata journey! In these beginner level courses, you will learn the basic bachata footwork, timing, and turns. You will also learn to use a dance frame and how to create bachata patterns/combos through leading and following. Please join during the first week of the month. You need to test out to enter the next level.
- Bachata Intermediate is an on-going class in which you continue to learn more complicated bachata patterns/combos, footwork, spins, shines, and timing. In the intermediate level, we start teaching you to play with the bachata rhythm, create body movement that connects with the music, and dance in the different styles of bachata (urban, sensual, and traditional/Dominican).
- Salsa on1 Foundations is a 4-week course that is required to join Salsa Beginner. A new group starts every month and you should join during the first class of the month. This is where you start your salsa journey! You learn the basic footwork, partner work, spins, cross-body lead, and basic musicality. (You can test out by pre-arranging a time to meet with instructor prior to class.)
- Salsa on1 Beginner is an on-going class where you already know the basic footwork, spins and musicality. You will continue to build your confidence for the social dance floor, and you will have better knowledge of how to add your own personality to your salsa dancing! This is the level in which you stretch yourself as a salsa dancer and a team player as we grow through numerous dance challenges together.
- Salsa Cubana (Rueda) Level 1 is a progressive class that allows new students to join the first Monday of every fourth month. It is an incredibly fun form of salsa dancing! Salsa Cubana (also known as casino or rueda de casino) is a style of salsa dancing which originated in Cuba, where couples form a big circle and execute turn patterns in unison to the calls of a single leader. In Level 1, you will learn the beginner level of salsa rueda calls and dances.
